It’s late August 2020 and time to head back (virtually) to school!  

Since the pandemic is still very much a problem, lessons will be primarily or exclusively online through at least December. 

I will be teaching Monday-Thursday and by request only on Friday. Please select a time that works for you during the school year—you can schedule repeating lessons on the website. Please email me if you need help. 

There will be a virtual recital in December so that we can have a performance goal for everyone, which will include a mass recording of some seasonal music and performances of repertoire or shorter sections of the repertoire.  

I have ordered a clear tent and am working on sewing playing masks and sacks for my instruments in the hopes that I might actually be able to see people in person once before the recital in December! I will try to post updates as I make headway on this project. Any in-person meetings would be in Kirkland for the foreseeable future.

The May Recital will be on Friday May 29 at 6 pm.  It will feature videos of performances by everyone!  You will need to record and submit your performances by Wednesday May 27 so that they can be edited into a format that will work on Zoom.  Things to prepare:

--Prepare your part well--if you are using a recording, practice with it and make sure you can play with no click in the other part.

--Record yourself several times so that you can get used to the process and get your microphone working as well as it can with your instrument.

--Having someone else operate the recorder can be very helpful.

--Wear day clothes for your performance--look nice enough to attend school.

--If you are playing with someone else, give yourself and your playing partner adequate time to prepare and rehearse before filming.

--State your name, piece, and accompanist/partner before you play on the video.

Because of the extension of the stay-at-home order, lessons will be online only until May 4.

Please schedule lessons on the website for the following weeks.  Repeated times are possible and please check to make sure that you have what you need!

Zoom works best when no other devices are streaming.  Also, please turn down your microphone levels (not at the top) for instruments because they can overwhelm the system.  Saxes are particularly prone to this.
